We back n da Sweatshop...
I Am City P. a.k.a P .Boy Swag. My favorite line was "i represent the Yay
Area"-Player's Ball. I represent Tha City ( San Francisco) and Fillmoe (my
district) to the maximum. The Fillmore's rich history in jazz drug culture,
and pimping and just overall hustling from the 50's through the 80's led
to a new, legit means of money making: The Independent rap game. Without
exaggeration, I can say that i was in at ground zero. IMyAs exposed to rap
early and became intrigued by the local rap scene. My early influences
were Rappin 4tay, the GLP, RBL Posse, Tabb Doe, an11/5. When i was 12, i
started working as a intern at Bayview Studios under the tutelage of Bay
Area Legends, TC and The Enhancer. But like any hood dude, life's a
roller-coaster provided many barriers and my dream was put ion hold.
Fast forward to 2004. After getting back into the music scene on a
recreational level, my brother Raymon Bass, was murdered on the 400
block of haight St. The last time i saw him was at a studio on the same block
of his death. At the end of the session we had decided to put together a
compilation. After we buried my little brother, THE GAME GOT SERIOUS.
Since then, i teamed up with ak jax and the Sweatshop Production team, and
trekked to Atlanta, the underground is buzzing. Fans and peers both, say
that if I didn't broadcast my hometown so much, they wouldn't be able to
tell where i was from. Lyrics too witty and punch-line heavy to be typical
West Coast, too unpredictable to be East Coast, and too deep and too braid
to be southern, my style is beyond description. But daunt let me tell you,
Listen and see for yourself. After you hear, it would be undeniable.- City
